Burns-Martin Trophy

The Burns-Martin Trophy, Part Three, took place on Friday the 8th of May in the form of a Kiwi-Quiz contest. Both classes met in Room 8 with three teams of four and the winning class would have the highest overall score when combining the three teams scores.

After the ten questions the classes were surprisingly close, so close in fact that it was a tie! Both classes had scored 24 out of 30.

So Mr. Burns said that there must be a winner and a sudden death question was asked. It was, "What year was the first ever earthquake officially recorded?" To be fair Mr. Burns told the teams that it was between 1800 and 1900.

The actual answer is 1831 in China when the account was carved into bamboo. The best guess from Room 8 was 1836 and the best guess from Room 4 was 1833.

This meant that, "The winners of the Burns-Martin Trophy Part 3 are: ROOM 4!"
When it was announced a huge roar sounded around Room 8 as Room 4 took back the Burns-Martin Trophy with to class and Room 4.

You had to be here to see how much it meant to both teams to win this competition.

Congratulations to Room 4 and Mr. Martin and amasingly close battle which is always pleasing to see.

Room 8 will be looking forward to the next challenge and Part 4 of the Burns-Martin Trophy.
